Gunners confident creator in chief will pen new deal
Arsenal are confident that key midfielder Mesut Ozil will sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, despite reports linking him with a move to Barcelona, writes the Sunday Telegraph.
The La Liga giants were recently credited with an interest in Ozil, who has been in fine form for the Gunners this season, creating more chances (100) than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.
Arsenal are eager to tie the German down to a new long-term deal in north London, with Arsenal believed to be readying to offer the player £180k-a-week.
The deal would make Ozil the highest earner at the club, though that would only be temporary with Arsenal set to bring Alexis Sanchez level with Ozil, pay wise, in the foreseeable future.
