Manchester United eye Wan-Bissaka alternative

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier after being priced out of a move for top transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka, claims The Daily Mail.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing a right-back a priority this summer and had hoped to prise Wan-Bissaka away from Crystal Palace after his stunning campaign for the Eagles.

The Red Devils were hopeful of signing the 21-year-old in a deal worth around £40m but it is now reported Palace have slapped a stunning £70m price tag on the England Under-21 international.

United are not willing to spend that much money on a player with only 18-months experience in top-flight football and are now weighing up their options.

With Kieran Trippier expected to join Napoli, United are interested in prising Meunier away from PSG in a cut-price deal.

The Belgium international only has 12 months left to run on his existing PSG contract and is not expected to renew after struggling to nail down a regular starting berth under Thomas Tuchel.

Meunier has only made 18 starts in the league for PSG this season and a further three appearances as a substitute, returning three goals and as many assists in that time.
