Inter want out of favour Chelsea defender

Inter are looking to hand Chelsea defender Emerson a route back to Italy after wrapping up a deal for Real Madrid's Achraf Hakimi, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Antonio Conte's side have agreed a £36m deal to sign Hakimi following his breathtaking campaign on loan with Borussia Dortmund.

Hakimi has been billed as the perfect wing-back for Conte's system and now the former Chelsea boss wants to raid his former employers to strengthen the other side of the pitch.

Emerson has no future at Chelsea under Frank Lampad and has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge all season.

Chelsea want to sign a new left-back this summer, with Leicester's Ben Chilwell at the top of Lampard's wishlist, and Emerson will be moved on as a result.

The 25-year-old has been limited to just 14 Premier League appearances this season and has only featured in one of Chelsea's four matches since football resumed.

It was Conte that signed Emerson for Chelsea in 2018 but he has failed to make a positive impact at the club, failing to usurp Marcos Alonso in the pecking order.

Emerson has only started 20 of a possible 70 league matches for Chelsea and the Blues have a far superior win ratio when he has not started (60%) compared to when he has featured from the off (35%) in that time.
