Sheffield United complete signing of Greek international defender
Sheffield United have bolstered their squad further this month and confirmed the signing of Panagiotis Retsos from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old centre-back burst onto the scene with Olimpiacos in 2016 and made the move to the Bundesliga the following year, earning his first senior international call up with Greece at just 18.
However, having made an impression in his first season at Bayer Leverkusen, making 24 league appearances in Germany's top-flight but suffered a couple of serious injuries the following year which stunted his development.
Retsos didn't make a signle league appearance in the previous campaign and despite returning to fitness has been unable to break back into the B04 side this.
The Blades have bolstered the defensive ranks on transfer deadline day with the loan signing of an international defender from the Bundesliga.

He's started just one Bundesliga game this season and was brought off at half time in a 1-0 win over Mainz in December, making a further two sub appearances.
His ability to play anywhere across the backline will certainly be an asset to Sheffield United, providing competition to a back three in particular that has been ever present in all but one of 24 league games this season.
