Everton manager Ronald Koeman wants to end the club’s woes in attack in the January transfer window and is lining up a move for former Premier League striker Seydou Doumbia, claims The Sun.
The Toffees have only scored two goals in five Premier League matches this season and Koeman has already lamented the clubs inability to replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer.
Everton signed Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez to help ease the departure of Lukaku but neither are capable of providing the sufficient firepower to completely fill the void left by the new Manchester United No.9.
Koeman is now hopeful of signing a new striker in the January transfer window and is weighing up a move for 29-year-old Doumbia, who joined Portuguese giants Sporting on loan from Roma over the summer.
Doumbia endured a fairly disastrous loan stint with Newcastle last year and has only managed 30 minutes of league action for Sporting so far this season. The Ivory Coast international fared better on his Champions League debut for Sporting, scoring once and registering one assist in 63 minutes against Olympiacos last week.
