Leicester ready stunning £45m bid for Barcelona youngster
Leicester are interested in an audacious move for Barcelona youngster Trincao worth up to £45m, claims The Guardian.
The Foxes are determined to back manager Brendan Rodgers this summer despite missing out on a top four finish in stunning fashion.
Leicester saw their push for Champions League football collapse with James Maddison ruled out and Rodgers wants to sign another creative player to ease the burden.
Trincao has been earmarked as a top transfer target as a result and Leicester want to secure his services on an initial two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy for £45m.
Barcelona spent £26m in January to sign Trincao from Braga in January before letting the 20-year-old spend the remainder of the season on loan in Portugal.
Trincao is highly rated by Barcelona but with the club in financial turmoil he may never actually get the chance to play for the LaLiga giants.
The Portugal Under-21 international played a direct hand in 14 goals in 27 league appearances for Braga in 2019/20, despite only starting 17 times.
Of players that made at least 15 starts in Liga NOS this season, only now-Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes (7.82) garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Trincao (7.68) in the division (excluding substitute appearances).
Moreover, only ex-Tottenham graduate Marcus Edwards (3.8) averaged more dribbles per 90 than Trincao (3.5) in the league.
