AC Milan switch attention from Morata to Chelsea ace
AC Milan are now interested in signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa after missing out on Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, reports the London Evening Standard.
Vincenzo Montella’s side emerged as surprise favourites to sign Morata and it was even reported they would edge out Manchester United and Chelsea to sign the Spain international after Real Madrid’s Champions League final win on Saturday.
However, Morata revealed he would not be joining Milan after Madrid’s 4-1 win over Juventus and now the Serie A giants are focusing their efforts on prizing Costa away from Chelsea, although that will be a difficult deal to pull off.
Costa has already revealed he would only leave Chelsea to re-join Atletico Madrid this summer after ruling out a lucrative move to China in order to fight for a place in Spain’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The 28-year-old rediscovered his best form to fire Chelsea to their second Premier League title in three years this season, finishing the campaign with 20 goals and seven assists in the league.
