Barcelona are monitoring Ander Herrera’s situation at Manchester United, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
Herrera has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford since his move to England last summer.
The Spaniard has made just two Premier League starts this season and hasn’t featured in England’s top tier since United’s 3-1 thumping of rivals Liverpool last month, where he netted a second half penalty.
The European champions are aware they may need to strengthen their midfield next year and have earmarked Herrera as a possible target, with the 26-year-old behind summer signings Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin in the pecking order for Louis van Gaal's side.
Barcelona are believed to be tracking the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Lars Bender, Paul Pogba and Marco Verratti should they indeed dip into the transfer market at the end of the season.
