Nemanja Matic is open to leaving Manchester United in January after falling out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, claims the Manchester Evening News.
The Serbia international, who is currently out injured, has started just two Premier League games this season and is even below Fred in the pecking order for places.
Solskjaer has made it clear he wants United to be full of energy and youthfulness and Matic is neither of those things.
United spent £40m to sign Matic from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2017 at the request of former manager Jose Mourinho but he has been on the slide for some time now.
The 31-year-old is aware he does not have a long-term future under Solskjaer and is now open to the idea of leaving Old Trafford in January.
Solskjaer already wants to sign at least one new central midfielder at the next possible opportunity and Matic’s departure could force United to make two new additions in January.
Inter, who have already signed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez from United this season, have already been heavily linked with a move for Matic in recent months.
Matic has only started 16 of a possible 33 league matches since Solskjaer replaced Mourinho as United manager in December last year.
