Leroy Fer’s proposed move to Sunderland is off after the Queens Park Rangers midfielder failed his medical on Wearside, the Sunderland Echo reports.
Fer, 25, had been in Sunderland to agree personal terms and go through his medical examination ahead of completing a season-long loan move from QPR.
However, Sunderland will now have to look at other midfield options after the Netherlands international failed his medical for the second time in his career.
The Dutch midfielder’s move to Everton also fell through after problems were found in his knee in 2013. The midfielder instead move to Norwich City and since then he has started in more than 72 per cent of Premier League matches.
