Bournemouth are confident Jack Wilshere has not broken his ankle but face an anxious wait to find out the full extent of his latest injury, reports The Daily Mail.
Wilshere was injured in a collision with Harry Kane during Bournemouth’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday and was pictured leaving White Hart Lane on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
The England international has been plagued with a number of serious ankle and foot injuries in the past but scan results have revealed he has not broken anything in his foot, although the full extent of his injury remains unclear.
Wilshere is due to undergo another scan in the next 24 hours to find out whether he will be able to play again for Bournemouth this season, which might mean he has played his final game for the club.
The 25-year-old has spent the season on loan at Bournemouth after falling down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and it remains to be seen where his future lies beyond the end of the current campaign, even though the Cherries would like to retain his services.
Wilshere has endured a mixed season for Bournemouth and had recently lost his place in the team, although Eddie Howe explained it was down to managing Wilshere’s season.
Only Kevin de Bruyne (8) and Paul Pogba (6) have been denied by the woodwork more times in the Premier League this season than Wilshere (5).
