Real Madrid target not leaving Chelsea until 2019

Real Madrid have been dealt a decisive blow in their pursuit of Eden Hazard after the Chelsea star committed his immediate future to the Premier League champions for the next two years.

Hazard has re-emerged as a top transfer target for Madrid after leading Chelsea to their second Premier League title in three years where he would have the chance to work with his idol Zinedine Zidane.

However, the Belgium international, who still has three years to run on the five-year deal he signed in February 2015, has no interest in leaving Chelsea this summer, although has given suitors hope in the future.

“I’m good here,” Hazard told Strait Times, via London Evening Standard. “I’m at one of the best clubs in the world and I think I’m gonna stay for a couple of years. I’m very happy. You can see on the pitch that I’m happy.

“Next season, we will have the Champions League to play but we want to keep the Premier League trophy in Chelsea. It’s going to be hard but we know [people] expect a lot from Chelsea now. But now it is time to think about holidays.”

“It’s a dream of players to win everything but in football, it’s very hard. We will work for that and we will see. We won the league and if we want to achieve more, we have to improve and work more. And if we bring in some new players, why not?”

Hazard returned to his best form for Chelsea this season after being relinquished of his defensive duties by Antonio Conte in their new 3-4-3 formation that inspired their run to the title.

In fact, the 26-year-old finished the season as the highest rated player in the Premier League this season (7.81).
