England hero Maguire set for new Leicester deal

Leicester are keen to reward Harry Maguire with improved terms following his sensational 2018 World Cup displays, reports The Daily Mirror.

Maguire has been one of the best defenders at the World Cup this summer and his reputation has soared following England’s success.

The Three Lions are preparing for their semi-final clash with Croatia on Wednesday and many expect some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs to express an interest in Maguire.

Leicester only signed the 25-year-old 12 months ago but want to hand their star defender a new deal to reflect his performances and ward off interest from their rivals.

Maguire can now expect to be aligned as one of the club’s highest earners along with Jamie Vardy, who is also understood to be re-negotiating a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

Maguire scored his first ever England goal in Saturday’s quarter-final win over Sweden and has been a roaring success in both boxes for Gareth Southgate’s side this summer.

In fact, the England star has won more aerial duels than any other defender at the 2018 World Cup (33).
