Leicester failed in bid for Sporting winger, claims president
Leicester City failed in their bid to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Andre Carrillo, according to the Portuguese club’s president Bruno de Carvalho.
“The only proposal that I received was that of Leicester… I can confirm the proposed €12m (£8.82m). Only after the clubs agree among themselves can the buyer club talk to the player,” Sky Sports News quotes De Carvalho as saying.
Claudio Ranieri’s side could rekindle their interest in the 24-year-old in January however, with the Leicester Mecury claiming the tricky winger, who has entered the final 12 months of his current deal, is set to leave in the new year after contract talks with Sporting broke down.
Carrillo featured in the Copa America over the summer with Peru, where he scored one goal from two starts with an impressive WhoScored rating of 8.02.
