Stoke have announced Ramadan Sobhi has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until June 2022.
The Potters only signed the Egypt international 12 months ago but he has already made a real impression under Mark Hughes.
Stoke have moved to tie down the 20-year-old’s long term future in the wake of Marko Arnautovic’s departure to West Ham.
Dubbed the ‘Egyptian Messi’ when he was younger, Sobhi is set for greater game time this season and Stoke are delighted by his decision to commit to a new long-term deal.
“There’s no doubting that Ramadan is an exciting young talent,” chief executive Tony Scholes told the club’s official website.
“The first year is a new league and it’s fair to say new culture is always going to be challenging for a player.
“However, Ramadan has adapted to the league and country very quickly and showed that he has enormous potential. We’re delighted to have secured him on a contract until at least 2022.”
Sobhi only started eight Premier League matches this season and Stoke had a higher win ratio (37.5%) with him in the started XI compared to when he hasn’t featured from the off (26.7%).
