Manchester United ace an early doubt for Sunday’s trip to Newcastle

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will need further assessment after suffering a slight muscle injury during Sunday’s win against Huddersfield, reports ESPN.

Rashford came off the bench with less than 20 minutes remaining of United’s 2-0 win over the Terriers but felt a strain at the top of his left leg.

The 20-year-old will be assessed throughout the week before a decision is made on whether Jose Mourinho can include him in the squad for Sunday’s trip to Newcastle.

Alexis Sanchez’s arrival last month has raised questions about Rashford’s place at United but Mourinho has reportedly offered assurances about regular playing time and even parked the new United No.7 next to the youngster in the dressing room.

Mourinho hopes that Rashford will strike a good relationship with the Chile international and learn from the 29-year-old in order to take his own game to the next level.

Despite concerns about Rashford’s playing time this season, the England international has made more appearances than any other United player (37), while only three teammates have scored more goals (Rashford – 10).
