Arsenal have given up hope in their attempts to convince Alexis Sanchez to extend his stay but are confident Mesut Ozil will put pen to paper on a new deal, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Sanchez is locked in a tug-of-war between Manchester United and Manchester City this month and Arsene Wenger’s side are prepared to sell if their valuation is met.
Ozil’s current deal is also due to expire at the end of the season but Arsenal have been given renewed hope in their attempts to secure the 29-year-old’s long-term future.
The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to United with Jose Mourinho keen to reunite with the former Real Madrid creator but Wenger insists contract talks are still progressing.
Since joining Arsenal in the summer of 2013, Ozil has provided at least three more assists than any other Premier League player (47).
