Raffael extends Gladbach stay

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed Raffael has signed a new two-year contract extension keeping him at the Bundesliga outfit until June 2019.

Raffael, 31, has developed into a key player in Gladbach’s rise since he joined from Dynamo Kyiv in 2013.

The Brazilian forward’s original deal was due to expire at the end of next season but Gladbach have moved to arrest speculation regarding his future this summer.

“We’re very happy to have extended with Raffa,” Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl said.

“His performances have been superb and obviously awakened interest in him.

“I know that we had some notable competition so we’re very proud that Raffa chose to extend with us.”
