Aston Villa to make second Norwich raid

Aston Villa are in advanced talks to sign Norwich creator Todd Cantwell, claims Football Insider.

Dean Smith's side have already poached Emiliano Buendia from Norwich in a £33m deal this summer and are now closing in on Cantwell.

Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey has also been heavily linked with a move to Villa Park but it now appears Cantwell is closest to joining.

The 23-year-old is a product of Norwich's youth academy but has been linked with moves to clubs like Liverpool and Leeds in recent years.

Cantwell was expected to leave Norwich when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2019/20, but, like Buendia, he stayed to help them get promoted.

The former England Under-21 international, who is capable of playing on either wing, played a direct hand in 12 goals in 33 appearances in the Championship last season.

Only Ismaila Sarr (3) and Nick Powell (2.9) were fouled more times per game than Cantwell (2.7) in the Championship last term.
