Real Madrid forced to wait to sign top striking target

Real Madrid will have to wait until 2022 if they wish to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, reports Standard Sport. 

Haaland has been superb for the Bundesliga title contenders on the back of his arrival from Salzburg in January, netting 10 goals from nine appearances at a rate of a goal every 60.2 minutes. 

Real Madrid were credited with an interest in Haaland in January, along with a number of Europe's elite sides, but it was Dortmund who won the race to land the Norwegian sensation and the German outfit are benefitting from the frontman's goalscoring qualities. 

Indeed, Haaland remains in high demand across the continent, despite only moving to Dortmund in January, largely due to a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for €75m. 

However, Los Blancos, along with Manchester United, will have to wait for another two years to be able to trigger that clause. 

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke have a good working relationship and the Spanish side may use that to their advantage to help sign Haaland in the future.
