Atletico Madrid have earmarked Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu as one of their No.1 transfer targets in the summer, according to AS.
Bakambu only joined the Yellow Submarines last season from Turkish side Bursaspor last summer but the 25-year-old is enjoying a stunning first season in Spain.
The DR Congo international’s performances have even caught the eye of Atletico, who will be in the market for a new striker in the summer after losing Jackson Martinez in January.
Diego Simeone’s side have already tried to pip any other potential admirers by opening discussions already, but they will face competition in the summer.
Bakambu has scored at least 14 more goals than any other Villarreal player this season across all competitions (22) and he has particularly excelled in the Europa League, where nine of his goals have come.
