West Brom manager Alan Pardew wants to bolster his midfield options by signing Fulham star Tom Cairney this month, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 26-year-old was subject of a £20m bid from Newcastle during the summer and Fulham will not want to lose their star player midway through the season.
Fulham have finally started to put some form together and are just outside the play-off positions, but losing Cairney would be a hammer blow.
The Baggies are currently in talks with Fulham and are expected to test their resolve with an opening £12m bid, which could go up to as much as £15m.
Cairney missed most of the start of the season through injury, which has limited the Scotland international to just 15 starts from Fulham’s 27 league matches this season.
Despite struggling to rediscover last season’s top form, Cairney is still Fulham’s top rated player in the Championship this term (7.20 rating).
However, Cairney has the best pass success rate in the Championship this season (91%), which is all the more impressive when you consider he is an attacking midfielder.
