Barcelona target signs new deal

Barcelona’s attempts to bring Eusebio Sacristan back to the club as manager have been put on hold after Real Sociedad announced their head coach has put pen to paper on a new deal keeping him at the club until 2019.

Sacristan, who formerly coached the Barcelona B side, has spent the last two years with Sociedad after being hired as David Moyes’ successor in 2015 and the 52-year-old has done a fabulous job since then.

His work in the Basque country has seen the former Barcelona midfielder tipped with a return to the Camp Nou as a possible manager and with Luis Enrique expected to leave at the end of the season there seemed a possibility his return may have been accelerated.

However, Barcelona will have to put any interest on hold with the Spaniard now tied down with Sociedad until 2019. Sociedad are currently flying in fifth in La Liga and only four points adrift of the final Champions League spot currently being occupied by Atletico Madrid.
