Arsenal prepared to listen to offers for captain

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the close on the transfer window, reports the Sunday Times.

The Gunners skipper put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the north London side last summer in what was a show of loyalty having been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However, Aubameyang struggled to repay the faith shown in him as he scored just 10 league goals for Arsenal, a sub-par return by his usually lofty standards.

Aubameyang missed the 2-0 loss at Brentford on Friday due to illness as goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard saw the Bees win their first ever Premier League game.

The 32-year-old underwhelmed in pre-season, too, and having spent £50m on Ben White, Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell Aubameyang this summer to help fund a rebuild at the Emirates.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic and Inter frontman Lautaro Martinez as head coach Mikel Arteta seeks to improve the frontline before the August 31st deadline.
