Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has no desire to follow Sarri back to Italy

Jorginho insists he has no interest in returning to Italy if Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri leaves the club this summer.

Chelsea completed a double raid of Napoli last summer to prise Sarri and Jorginho away from the Serie A outfit in a deal that cost around £60m combined.

Jorginho was heralded as one of the best midfielders in Europe during his time at Napoli and Chelsea beat off competition from Manchester City to sign him.

The Brazilian-born Italy international has, however, endured a testing season at Stamford Bridge and divides opinion among Chelsea supporters.

With so much talk about Sarri getting sacked after the Europa League final, it has raised questions about Jorginho’s own future at the club, amid suggestions Sarri would like to take Jorginho back to Serie A with him.

However, the 27-year-old insists he still has a long time left on his Chelsea deal and is not thinking about leaving after just 12 months.

“I have four years left on my contract,” he told the London Evening Standard. “I see this as a very positive campaign.

“It’s only natural that at a club like Chelsea, there is going to be all this pressure. There will always be criticism, but I remained calm and relaxed. I’ll always have something new to learn and I’ve seen consistent growth throughout this season.”

Even though Jorginho’s primary role in Chelsea’s midfield is not to register assists, but to set the tempo and pattern of their play, it’s alarming he failed to set up one goal, despite completing the most passes in the Premier League this season (3118).
