Leicester City are hopeful of completing a shock deal to sign Bayern Munich defender Dante, according to The Sunday People.
Dante, 31, was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, but now appears to be firmly in the sights of Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester.
The Brazil international has fallen significantly down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola at Bayern and could seal a move away before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
Despite being the club’s only fit centre-back, Guardiola instead opted to field three full-backs in defence for their 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
According to Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday People, Leicester met with representatives of Dante on Friday and are confident they can wrap up a deal for as little as £5m.
Of Bayern players to have made more than two appearances in the Champions League, only David Alaba (92.6%) and Rafinha (91.7%) had a higher pass success rate than Dante (91.6%) last season, accentuating his statistically calculated strength of ‘passing’.
