Liverpool flop heading for Hull City move

Lazar Markovic is poised to have his abysmal loan spell with Portuguese outfit Sporting terminated but is set to join Hull for the remainder of the season rather than return to parent club Liverpool, reports The Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old joined Sporting on an initial season-long loan deal at the start of the campaign having been farmed out to Fenerbahce the season before and seemingly plays no part in Jurgen Klopp’s long-term vision for the club.

Liverpool splashed out £20m to sign Markovic from Benfica under Brendan Rodgers in 2014 but he struggled to make any impression at Anfield and Klopp is happy for the Serbia international to continue his development away from the club.

Hull manager Marco Silva is reportedly an admirer of Markovic and is keen to bring the winger to the KC Stadium as he looks to steer the Tigers clear of the bottom three.

Markovic has only started two league matches for Sporting this season, with a further four appearances made from the bench. In fact, only two players to have started a league game for Sporting have gained a lower WhoScored rating than Markovic (6.41).
