Swansea sack Guidolin

Swansea have announced they have sacked Francesco Guidolin and replaced him with Bob Bradley.

Guidolin has come in for scrutiny this season following Swansea’s mixed start and the Italian has now lost his job following their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool despite a spirited performance.

The 61-year-old was only handed a two-year contract in the summer after successfully steering the club clear of relegation following his appointment in January.

“We are obviously disappointed to part company with Francesco,” Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told their official website.

“We felt he deserved his opportunity after the work he did last season. Unfortunately we have not been able to carry performances over from last season and we felt we needed to change things as soon as possible in order to move forward in a positive way.”

Swansea have also confirmed that they have replaced Guidolin with former USA manager Bradley, who has spent the last two years in charge of French second division side Le Harve.

“We are delighted Bob has agreed to join us,” Jenkins continued. “He is highly regarded as a coach and has a wealth of experience on the international and domestic front.

“He is well aware of the club’s footballing philosophy and will provide us with strong leadership qualities and a renewed belief to compete at this level.

“It is never easy changing managers, but we are looking at a long-term appointment and we are confident Bob can settle us down and stabilise matters on and off the pitch.”

In almost two years at Le Harve Bradley won less than half of his matches in charge (44.4%).
