Bournemouth rejected shock £15m bid for Afobe

Bournemouth turned down a shock £15m bid for Benik Afobe from Championship side Wolves on deadline day, reports The Sun.

Afobe only left Wolves to join Bournemouth in January 2016, but the Championship side made a late push to re-sign the 24-year-old back and bolster their chances of promotion.

Swansea and West Brom both had interest rebuffed from the Cherries on deadline day, but it was Wolves’ efforts that caught Eddie Howe’s team off guard.

Despite the fact Afobe is currently away on international duty with DR Congo, Wolves still attempted to get a deal over the line.

Afobe had no intention of dropping back down to the Championship this season, even though he faces stiff competition for places in attack at Bournemouth following the return of Jermain Defoe.

Since the start of last season, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (18), Sergio Aguero and Christian Benteke (both 15) have missed more clear-cut chances than Afobe (14).
