Bayern Munich star signs new deal

Arjen Robben has agreed to a new one-year deal with Bayern Munich keeping him at the Bundesliga giants until 2018, reports German outlet Sport1.

The Netherlands international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season but Bayern are keen to reward the loyalty of the 32-year-old, who has been one of their best players since joining from Real Madrid in 2009.

Robben has endured a series of long-term injuries that have disrupted what has otherwise been a sensational career at Bayern, where he lifted every trophy possible with the Bavarians.

With Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman coming through Robben is certainly not the future of Bayern anymore, but he is still arguably one of the best players in the Bundesliga when fully fit.

Being fully fit, however, is easier said than done and a rarity for Robben these days. Robben has only started eight league games for Bayern this season, but he has still managed to score five goals and three assists in 10 appearances.

In the last four Bundesliga campaigns no Bayern player has garnered a higher WhoScored rating for Bayern than Robben (7.75).
