Spain international Dani Carvajal has extended his contract at Real Madrid for a further year, despite the arrival of Danilo from Porto this summer.
Carvajal, 23, is a rare product of Real Madrid’s academy and is now bound to the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2020.
The €31.5m arrival of Brazil international Danilo had cast doubts over Carvajal’s future, but the 23-year-old has now quashed rumours of his exit.
Carvajal has proven to be an important defender for Madrid since returning from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. Last season in La Liga no Madrid player made more tackles per game (2.9), only two players made more interceptions (1.8), only one defender attempted more dribbles per game (1.9).
