Barcelona target tells Arsenal he wants to quit

Arsenal have been dealt a blow after being told that Hector Bellerin wants to quit the club and return to Barcelona this summer, reports the Sun.

The Spaniard was part of the Spain U21 side that lost to Germany in the final of the European U21 Championship and has been heavily linked with a move back to Camp Nou.

Arsenal were confident they could retain the right-back’s services this year, despite missing out on a top-4 finish.

Barcelona are in the market for a new right-back during the off season as head coach Ernesto Valverde identifies areas of improvement, with the defence a position that needs strengthening.

Aleix Vidal and Sergi Roberto have both been used at right-back over the last 12 months, yet have struggled with the demands of playing the role and carrying out the necessary duties for the La Liga giants.

Bellerin, 22, only signed a six-and-a-half year deal with the Gunners last November, so Arsenal are under no pressure to sell one of their prized assets.

However, the defender has made his intentions clear that he wants to move to Barcelona this summer, with his family recently returning to Spain.
