Juventus dealt blow in pursuit of Bayern Munich outcast

Juventus may be forced to end their brief interest in Renato Sanches after the youngster revealed he wants to stay at Bayern Munich next season.

Sanches has been tipped to leave Bayern just 12 months after joining the Bundesliga giants in the wake of Corentin Tolisso’s league record arrival.

The 19-year-old, who was named Golden Boy for 2016, struggled to make any impact at Bayern last season and Juventus were hopeful of luring him away from the Allianz Arena this summer.

Max Allegri’s side are already in talks with Juventus to sign Douglas Costa and they were hopeful of signing Sanches on an initial two-year loan deal with an option to buy in the same way they sanctioned the departure of Kingsley Coman to their German counterparts.

However, Sanches has spoken out about his future and is ready to fight for his future at Bayern, which was not what Juventus would have wanted to hear.

“Bayern are a great club and, in principle, I’ll stay in Bavaria,” he told Tuttomercato after Portugal were knocked out of the U21 European Championships, via Football Italia.

“If I had to leave, I won’t be discouraged, but my objective is to stay and do my best for this shirt.”

Sanches only started six games in the Bundesliga last season and was forced to make a further 11 appearances from the bench, in which time he was demoted from the Portugal senior squad for the Confederations Cup to the U21 side.

In fact, Sanches finished last season as Bayern’s lowest rated outfielder (6.43) in the Bundesliga.
