Villarreal confirm double Valencia raid for midfield pair

Villarreal have announced the signings of Francis Coquelin and Dani Parejo from LaLiga rivals Valencia.

Los Che need to balance the books and have elected to cash in on Coquelin and Parejo, despite the pair establishing themselves as key men for Valencia.

"Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Valencia CF for the transfer of Francis Coquelin, who will play for the Yellows for the next four seasons," a statement read on Villarreal's website this morning following the capture of Coquelin.

"The French footballer joins from Valencia CF, where he has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons. He played 89 games for them, scoring once and providing three assists. Before moving to LaLiga, Coquelin played for Arsenal FC, Charlton Athletic, SC Freiburg and FC Lorient."

Villarreal followed up their announcement on Wednesday with confirmation of Parejo's arrival.

"Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Valencia CF for the footballer Dani Parejo, who will wear the yellow shirt for the next four seasons," Villarreal confirmed in a statement.

The duo's departure is unlikely to sit well with Valencia fans, with Parejo's exit in particular a blow for the side.
