Manchester United target prefers Manchester City move
Napoli midfielder Jorginho would prefer to join Manchester City over Manchester United, reports The Sun.
Jorginho will be subject to intense interest in the summer after establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe in the last two years.
United have reportedly identified the Italy international as the ideal replacement for Michael Carrick, who retires at the end of the season.
However, Jose Mourinho can expect competition for his signature if Napoli are unable to convince the 26-year-old to stay at the club.
City are also in the market for a new central midfielder this summer and Pep Guardiola is allegedly also interested in signing the Napoli ace.
Guardiola’s interest could thwart United’s attempts to prise the Napoli No.8 to Old Trafford as it has now emerged Jorginho would prefer to join the Premier League champions.
No player in Europe’s top five leagues averages more passes per game than Jorginho (97.4) this season.
