Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the progress of RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, reports ESPN.
Gulacsi, who failed to make the grade at Liverpool during a five-year stint at Anfield, has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in Germany since moving to Leipzig in 2015.
Arsenal and Chelsea both sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old in Leipzig’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the weekend as they continue to monitor his progress.
The Gunners have started the process of identifying a long-term replacement for 35-year-old Petr Cech, who has 18 months left to run on his current Arsenal deal.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also keeping their options open as they brace themselves for future interest in Thibaut Courtois from Real Madrid.
Since the start of last season, only Ralf Fahrmann (4) has saved more penalties than Gulacsi (2) in the Bundesliga, accentuating his statistically calculated strength of ‘penalty saving’.
