Chelsea have stepped up their hunt for a new striker by adding Saido Berahino to their list of transfer targets for January, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Jose Mourinho is keen to revamp his strike force following their staggeringly poor start to the campaign.
Berahino, 22, was strongly linked with a move to Spurs over the summer but the Baggies rejected several bids from Chelsea’s London rivals.
However, Chelsea could ignite a bidding war when the transfer window reopens in January and are thought to be seriously considering a £20m for Berahino.
The England Under-21 international will only have 18 months left on his contract at the turn of the year and has proven to be a regular goalscorer in the Premier League.
Berahino has, however, struggled for the bulk of this season. Other than in each of the three games in which the striker has scored, he has failed to garner a WhoScored rating of above 6.41 in any of his other seven appearances.
