Everton eye audacious move for former Chelsea striker
Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is interested in handing Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa a way back to the Premier League, claims The Daily Mail.
Atletico have ran out of patience with Costa and the Spain international is free to leave the LaLiga side for the second time in his career.
The Spanish giants are in the process of a squad overhaul and have spent more than £150m on signing 19-year-old wonderkid Joao Felix and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.
Costa spent three years at Chelsea before engineering a return to Atletico in the summer of 2017 and now Everton are willing to hand him a route back to the Premier League.
Everton, who tried to sign Costa in 2017, are on the market for a new first-choice striker and Moshiri believes the 30-year-old would be a statement signing.
Injuries and an eight-game suspension in April limited Costa to just 16 league appearances for Atletico last season and he managed just two goals in that time.
Furthermore, of Atletico players that made at least 10 league appearances last season, Costa garnered the lowest WhoScored rating (6.46).
