RB Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff has confirmed Timo Werner does not want to renew his contract.
Werner will only have 12 months remaining on his existing Leipzig deal at the end of the current campaign.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool have been heavily linked with Werner already this season and both will have been boosted by Mintzlaff’s latest comments about the striker's future.
“We want to extend it with him, but he has signalled to us that he would rather not extend,” he told Sky Germany.
Werner only joined Leipzig in 2016 but now looks destined to make a high profile switch at the end of the season.
This summer represents the last opportunity Leipzig will have to command a sizeable fee for the 23-year-old.
Werner has scored 48 goals in 89 league matches since joining Leipzig from Stuttgart in the summer of 2016.
