Madrid plan new contract for superstar

Real Madrid are planning to offer Gareth Bale a new contract, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Bale, 26, became Britain’s highest ever goalscorer in Spain on Sunday, overtaking Gary Lineker with his 43rd league goal in Madrid’s 4-0 win over Sevilla.

The Wales international has regularly been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu but Madrid are set to reward the former Spurs forward with a lucrative new deal that would place him among the world’s top earners.

Bale still has three years remaining on the original six-year deal he penned when he made the world record £85m switch from Spurs in 2013, but Madrid are keen to extend that deal by a further two years.

Bale has played a direct hand in 24 league goals (15 goals + nine assists) in just 18 appearances in La Liga this season, which means only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (53.5 mins) requires fewer minutes per decisive action than Bale this season (55.8 mins).
