Which Bundesliga goalkeeper earned a perfect rating this weekend?

Marwin Hitz’s performance in Augsburg’s 1-0 win away to Cologne may have been marred by his involvement in Anthony Modeste’s penalty miss, but the Switzerland shot-stopper finished the match as the first goalkeeper to garner a perfect WhoScored rating (10) across Europe’s top five leagues this season.

The 28-year-old was on hand to tip Modeste’s penalty round the post and ensure Augsburg claimed just their third win of the season to help them move to within one point of safety. His performance was also good enough to become the first goalkeeper since Francesco Bardi (for Chievo) in September last year to earn a perfect 10 rating.

Hitz’s performance became an Internet sensation when footage quickly spread of him tampering with the penalty spot in the build up to Modeste’s effort. The former Hoffenheim striker slipped on the turf where Hitz had disturbed and saw his shot saved by the Augsburg keeper just after half-time.

However, it would be a disservice to Hitz to forget about the rest of his performance, which ultimately ensured Augsburg clung on to all three points. In fact, only Ron-Robert Zieler, Ralf Fahrmann and Oliver Baumann (all 9) has made more saves in one match than what Hitz managed against Cologne at the weekend (8).
