Arsenal offer Ramsey new five-year deal

Arsenal have offered Aaron Ramsey a new five-year deal but will sell the midfielder this summer if he turns it down, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Ramsey’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season and the Wales international is seeking a substantial pay rise on his current terms.

The 27-year-old currently earns £110,000-a-week but is seeking a huge improvement on that following Arsenal’s January dealings.

Arsenal forked out big contracts to Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the start of the year and Ramsey wants a new deal to reflect his own importance.

Ramsey has said he is excited to work under new Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who is reportedly keen to build his team around the Welshman.

The Arsenal No.8 will now weigh up his options but will likely be sold if he opts against putting pen to paper with the north London outfit.

Emery’s side want to avoid going through the same turmoil as they did with Alexis Sanchez, who joined Manchester United in January after entering the final six months of his own contract.

Only Alexandre Lacazette (15) scored or assisted more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Ramsey this season (13).
