City stars ruled out for a month

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling are expected to be out for up to a month with respective calf and groin injuries.

The City duo were subbed off either side of half-time in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday and are now both ruled out for England’s upcoming friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands in the next two weeks.

Both are regulars under Roy Hodgson and their absence will serve as a big blow to their preparations ahead of the Euros in the summer, although both are expected to be fit come the time Hodgson announces his squad for the tournament in France at the start of June.

“Muscle injuries are never less than a month,” Pellegrini told Sky Sports. “I don’t think you can recover from a muscle injury in one week, normally it takes three or four weeks so I don’t think they can play.”

Only two players have completed more dribbles in the Premier League for Manchester City than Sterling this season (40) and no goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in England’s top-tier than Hart thus far (13).
