La Liga president Javier Tebas has revealed he would like to see Manchester United duo Wayne Rooney and David de Gea playing in Spain.
Spain triumphed 2-0 over England on Friday night, although De Gea was an unused substitute and Rooney only came on in the second half.
However, Tebas is a huge admirer of both players, who have both been linked with moves to Spain in their careers, and wishes they’d make the switch.
“I’d like to have seen Rooney play in Spain,” Tebas told AS. “I’d like to have seen a Premier League icon play in our league, but there’s also [Franck] Ribery.
“De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and I wish he played in our league, regardless of who for.”
Rooney has been heavily criticised for his performances this season and has already admitted he faces a huge challenge to keep his spot in the England squad for the Euro’s next summer.
In fact, no United player has had more unsuccessful touches in the Premier League this season than Rooney (20).
