Chelsea join the race for Saints forward

Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester United for Southampton forward Sadio Mane this month, according to the Daily Mirror.

United fell short in their pursuit of Mane over the summer but are now expected to rekindle their interest after the forward was dropped for their match against Norwich and disciplined by Ronald Koeman for turning up late to their pre-match meeting.

Southampton are still keen to keep hold of one of the best players and will not entertain any offers below their £30m valuation.

However, United are now likely to face competition from Chelsea, who are expected to be busy in the transfer window following such a calamitous start to the season.

Since the start of the season, no player has been fouled more times than Mane in the Premier League (49).
