West Ham United’s owners are considering other managerial targets as the pressure piles of Slaven Bilic following their derby defeat to Tottenham at the weekend, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Bilic, 48, impressed as West Ham manager during his first season at the club but has struggled to reproduce anywhere near the type of performances this time around, which hasn’t been helped by a poor transfer window and a move into a new stadium that has proven to be far more difficult than expected.
The Hammers looked to be heading toward a 2-1 victory over rivals Tottenham on Saturday before squandering that lead with two minutes remaining and leaving White Hart Lane with no points.
Bilic attracted a lot of flack for taking off Dimitri Payet and replacing the West Ham No.10 with Havard Nordtveit with five minutes remaining. The 26-year-old gave away the penalty from which Harry Kane scored the winner.
West Ham are currently only one point above the bottom three having only won three of their opening 12 matches in the Premier League and the board are reportedly weighing up potential replacements.
Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are desperate for Bilic to turn their fortunes around but cannot afford to watch West Ham be dragged into a relegation fight just a year after their controversial move into the London Stadium.
It is understood that Eddie Howe, Roberto Mancini and Rafa Benitez are all names liked within the board, but it remains to be seen whether they could attract any of those, with Howe and Benitez settled at their respective clubs.
