Manchester United set to announce Mourinho contract extension

An announcement that Jose Mourinho has extended his Manchester United contract is expected imminently, reports The National.

Mourinho’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next campaign and the 54-year-old was even forced to rule out an early departure at the start of the year.

The Portuguese flirted with the Paris Saint-Germain hot seat back in October to raise serious long-term questions marks about his future at Old Trafford but contract talks have reportedly reached a happy conclusion.

Mourinho guided United to two trophies during his first campaign in charge, as well as the Community Shield, and there have been further improvements this season despite the fact they are 12 points behind rivals Manchester City in the league.

After 23 gameweeks, United have eight more points this season (50 points) than they did last year (42) and they have also scored 15 more goals and conceded five fewer.
