New York City appoint World Cup winner as manager

New York City FC have announced former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira as their new manager on a three-year deal.

Vieira, 39, has spent the last four years learning his trade with the youth development squads at Manchester City, who own the MLS franchise.

The former France captain had been touted as a possible successor of Manuel Pellegrini at City or with a return to Arsenal, but he will now continue his development with NYCFC in America.
