Kane wants to stay at Tottenham, claims teammate

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose insists that star striker Harry Kane wants to stay at the club for the long-term.

Kane enjoyed yet another stunning season for the north London giants, scoring more goals (29) than any other Premier League player this term.

Spurs finished seven points off title winners Chelsea and while Kane has ambitions to win trophies, Rose believes that the 23-year-old wants to fulfil his goals with Spurs.

“I think the club can only do so much. I think a lot of it has got to be down to the individual,” Rose, who hasn’t played since January because of injury, told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I don't want to speak on behalf of anyone but working with someone like Harry Kane, I can tell you that his mindset will be, ‘now I'm staying at Tottenham, I'm going to break every single record.

“‘I’m going to set new records, I'm going to get as close to Alan Shearer as possible, I'm going to captain this club into the new stadium.’

“So when you have got a player like him with that mindset, I don't think Tottenham have to worry in that respect but I think it just depends where the individual is in the stage of his career.”

Rose also hinted that, despite Spurs not being under any pressure to sell their key men, any number of players may look to leave the club this summer, be it because they feel they have done enough for Spurs or as they fancy a change.

Kyle Walker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, and Rose went on to add: “A player might feel that he has done enough at Tottenham, he might fancy a change or you might feel that Tottenham is now the nearly club where we nearly go close to winning the league, we nearly go close to winning the semi-final of the FA Cup and he might chose to move on.

“So I think the club can only do so much and try and make a player see that the club is going in the right direction and if you stick with us, it won't be long before we are winning something.”
