Christian Benteke wants to stay at Crystal Palace and will talk with the club about his future at the end of the season.
The Belgium international has failed to rediscover his best form this season and Palace boss Roy Hodgson has reportedly lost patience in their club-record signing.
Hodgson wants to cash in on the former Liverpool striker but Benteke has other ideas this summer and wants to honour the last two years of his existing contract.
“I’m under contract until 2020, so I want to stay here,” Palace told The Daily Mail. “I’m going to speak to the chairman [Steve Parish] and the club about what they want to do with me.
“At the end of every season you have to speak, to see the plan for the next season. To speak, to see what they want to do with me.
“They saw the best of me last season, and I wanted to do even better this season, but it didn’t work like that and I will go again next season.
“It’s been frustrating [to be on the bench] because it’s the first time that’s happened to me.
“The [squad is] all behind me because they know that it’s not the best time for me, and it’s the first time I’ve been through this hard time without scoring. They wanted to give me a big boost.”
The 27-year-old scored only his third goal of the season in Palace’s shock 5-0 win over Leicester at the weekend, converting a penalty during a four-minute cameo.
Prior to that, Benteke had failed to score in nine matches in a row. Despite struggling in front of goal all season, Benteke has weighed in with a personal record of five assists.
The powerful Palace striker has also won the most aerial duels in the Premier League (239).
